A plate compactor that won't vibrate, won't move forward, or beats itself apart on the base is almost always down to the same handful of wear parts. The fix is rarely complicated — the slow part is figuring out exactly which part fits your machine. Here's how to get it right the first time, using the same part numbers we pull from every day.
Start with the machine, not the part
Every plate compactor part in our plate compactor parts collection is tagged by brand and by the models it fits. Before you order anything, get two things off the nameplate: the model and the serial number. Manufacturers change components mid-production, and the serial is how you catch that.
The model families we cover deepest:
- Wacker Neuson — WP1540 and WP1550 plates (including the WP1550AW), plus the WM170 engine that powers them. Belts, shockmounts, handle bushings, piston rings.
- Multiquip / Mikasa MVH reversible plates — MVH100, MVH150, MVH302, MVH304, MVH306, MVH402, MVH408, MVH502, and MVH508, including the DE, DZ, DS, and DSB variants.
- Multiquip MVC forward plates — MVC77, MVC82, MVC88, and MVC80VHW. Belts, clutches, tensioners, seals.
- Mikasa MTX rammers — MTX60, MTX70, MTX80, and MTX90 parts live in the same collection: shoe kits, bellows, springs, crank gears, and complete service kits like the FKITMTX1 for the MTX60–70.
The parts that actually wear out
V-belts. First thing to check when the engine runs but the plate won't vibrate. Belts are model-specific — a cogged belt for a Multiquip MVC82 (BLT17320) is not the belt for an MVH508 (BLT22490) or a Wacker WP1540W/WP1550 (BLTB27). Running the wrong profile glazes the belt and eats the clutch.
Shockmounts. The rubber isolators between the base plate and the upper deck take the full beating. When they crack or separate, vibration transfers into the handle and the engine deck, and bolts start backing out. We list them by machine: 5100016316 for the Wacker WP1550, 939010370 (large round) for the Multiquip MVH508, and 939010070 covering the MVH302 and MVH502.
Exciter and driveline parts. If the belt is good but compaction is weak, look at the exciter side: shafts like the 467355910 for the MVH408, the 457339571 stub shaft for the MVH502 and MVH508DZ, the 455434950 spindle shared by the MVH502 and MVH508, and seals and O-rings such as the 5100016445 vibrator cover O-ring for the WP1550AW.
Clutches. Centrifugal clutches wear with the belt. The 457333701 (2-5/8″ wide) fits the MVH502; the 413332920 covers the MVC80VHW and MVC82.
Plates, covers, and controls. Extension plates for the MVH508 (452990, two per box), inner and outer belt covers for the MVH502, throttle cables like the 956100071 for the MVH508, and shift cable assemblies for the MVH502.
Match by OEM part number
The fastest way to order is to read the number off the old part or the parts breakdown and search it directly. Where an aftermarket number crosses to an OEM number, we list both: the BLT22490 belt crosses to Multiquip 070200483, and the BLTBX48 cogged belt for the MVH408 crosses to 070200463. Searching either number on the collection page gets you to the same part. If the number is worn off, the model and serial get us there another way.
