First: identify your mixer
The ID plate is usually on the frame rail near the tow bar. Essick plaster/mortar mixers run in the EM series (EM70, EM90, EM120); Multiquip absorbed the Essick line, so many "MQ" mixers take Essick-pattern parts; Western mixers are the heavy 12-cubic-foot towables common on plaster crews. Paddles and drum parts — the fastest wear
Paddles scrape a full drum of abrasive mix every batch, so they go first. For Western mixers we stock the casted engine-side paddle (#1200100131, $139.95), the toe-side paddle (#1200100132, $139.95), and the welded scraper style (#1200100150), plus the base clamp for welded paddles (#00307005). Rubber liners and paddle shims matter too — a loose paddle chews the drum wall.
On Essick machines, a dented or rusted-through drum head is the classic failure: square-housing drum heads for EM90/EM70 (#514760, $78.95) and the larger EM120 (#EM201648, $138.95) are shelf items for us.
Clutch and drive
If the engine runs but the drum slips under load, look at the clutch before you blame the gearbox. We stock the complete Western clutch assembly (#1200150050), the yellow clutch spring (#1400300221, $53.95), and the little seals that keep gear oil where it belongs — like the Essick shifter-shaft oil seal (#07111, $12.95) and the 4-lug mixer seal (#12428).
Towing gear: axles, springs, hitches
Mixers live on the road between jobs, and the running gear takes the abuse. Western torsion axle assemblies (#1200050235), Western leaf springs (#1200050260, $111.95), and the U-shaped Essick EM12H leaf spring (#3018) are all in stock. For hitches, Multiquip makes it simple: 2-inch ball (#EBC1, $119.95 or heavy-duty #HBC1), hoop style (#ELC1), and drop-pin (#EPC1) — check which coupler your truck runs before ordering.
Safety grates and screens
OSHA looks for them and your hands appreciate them. New-style Western safety grates (#1200050018, $199.95) and pump safety screens (#1200050012, $179.95) bolt straight on.
Engine-side parts
Mixer engines are usually Honda GX, Yanmar diesel, or Hatz diesel.
